János Géczi: The source of knowledge: the garden

We approach the problem with a cultural historical method in order to show which processes defined the medieval education concerning the garden. We intended to present a comprehensive interpretation not separating the educational history from cultural history we show the christian and islamic form of the concept of the garden of the mediterraneum sacral meaning and the process how the space having symbolic content can define the profane use of the garden and its institutionally transmitted knowledge.
