The University of Szeged has been ranked among the world’s leading higher education institutions in five academic fields in the 2026 ShanghaiRanking - Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. We are particularly delighted that education is one of the University’s highest-performing fields. 

According to the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, published on 15 September 2026, the University of Szeged achieved internationally outstanding results in Human Biological Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Dentistry and Oral Sciences, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Education. In Human Biological Sciences, the University was ranked among the world’s top 300 institutions and achieved first place among Hungarian universities. Clinical Medicine and Dentistry and Oral Sciences were also placed in the global top 300. 

The University of Szeged’s performance in Education is especially noteworthy in both international and national comparison. In this field, the University was ranked among the world’s top 301–400 institutions and achieved second place in Hungary. Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences was likewise placed in the 301–400 range internationally.

The ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects evaluates the performance of approximately 2,000 higher education institutions from nearly 100 countries across 57 academic fields. Its indicators assess, among other factors, the quality and impact of research, citation performance, publications in leading scientific journals and international research collaboration. The objective indicators are grouped into five categories: world-class faculty, world-class research output, high-quality research, research impact and international collaboration.

These results demonstrate the broad academic excellence of the University of Szeged. The prominent position achieved in Education also provides important recognition of the high-quality research conducted at the University and its growing international visibility.
