Introducing a New Monograph on Metacognition, Theory of Mind, and Epistemological Beliefs
On the 20th of November, the head of our institute, Csaba Csíkos, together with his colleagues from the University of Pécs, János Steklács, Ágnes Bálint, and Ildikó Zank, presented their monograph entitled Metacognition, Theory of Mind, Epistemological Beliefs: Background Dimensions of the School Knowledge System.
The authors emphasised that, both in Hungary and internationally, increasing attention being paid to the abilities and beliefs that are underlying the knowledge system of students. The purpose of the volume is to summarise the growing theoretical knowledge related to these concepts and to present the results of an action research project in which teachers were introduced to the concepts of metacognition, theory of mind, and epistemological beliefs and received support to integrate these elements of knowledge into their work to develop more effective pedagogical processes.
After the book presentation, our colleague, Fanni Bíró, had a discussion with the authors.
