Naser Shirbagi: Faculty Members' Organizational Commitment and its relationship with Organizational Culture

The survey investigates the relationship between faculty members’ organizational commitment and some of the selected antecedents of organizational commitment. The primary objective of this research was to understand how these antecedents contribute in making faculty members committed to a university. It was a comparative study in two Iranian and Indian higher education institutions. Questionnaires containing organizational commitment and organizational culture measures were distributed to a total of 400 faculty members. Results showed significant difference in levels of organizational commitment between Iranian and Indian faculty members. No significant gender differences were observed in either university. Also there were significant differences among faculty members’ organizational commitment with regard to their teaching experience. Clan culture had significant correlation with normative commitment in the Indian sample.
