János Géczi : The iconographic representation of over-ade and adult students, 1956–1964

This paper surveys one of those areas of the anthropology of the Socialist ideology at the turn of the 1950s-1960s that can be investigated iconologically. Discussing the similarities and differences between adult and child education, an attempt is made to draw conclusions about man and child, which can also help identify weltanschauung. Sources are analyzed to reveal whether the claim of historians of education can be verified, i.e. the view of the child in every ideology stems from the adult view of its anthropology. Furthermore, the ways in which the two cultural legacies, Byzantine orthodoxy and Western Catholicism, may appear iconographically are discussed.
