Dalma Lilla Dominek & Szabolcs Ceglédi: Create – The Psychology of Creativity Measuring Creativity with the Help of Toth’s Creativity Scale Among the Students of the University of Public Service in Hungary

In today’s information society, and especially from the perspective of education, measuring creativity is becoming more and more relevant. Creativity may be measured through psychometric assessment, among others. In this study, we used Tóth’s creativity scale (Tóth-féle Kreativitás Becslő Skála; TKBS), and used the SPSS statistical software for data analysis. Tóth’s creativity scale consists of 5-point Likert scale statements (72), which are grouped into 12 factors. The study presents the findings of a creativity assessment among the students (N=132) of the University of Public Service in Hungary (Nemzeti Közszolgálati Egyetem; NKE). Results highlight the importance of exploiting students’ creativity during teaching: the maximum point on the scale was 144; the mean was 24.1, the standard deviation was 26.1. The methodology of teaching should be reformed with special focus on experiential learning (Kolb, 1984) and achievement-based teaching (Farkas, 2017) which all aim to improve students’ competence regardless of their field of study.
